What is a Fire Risk Assessment?

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 in England and Wales, the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 in Scotland and the Fire and Rescue Services (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 in Northern Ireland, it is a legal requirement for a Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) to be carried out on all premises where people could be working.
Under these regulations, the 'responsible person,' generally the business owner, is legally obliged to ensure that the fire risk assessment is carried out and that any problems highlighted during the assessment are rectified.

In multi-tenanted buildings, each tenant has to carry out a fire risk assessment of their premises, and coordinate it with the fire risk assessment that the landlord has carried out of their areas.

How long does a FRA take?

Generally speaking if you are a small business our assessor will take a day to complete the assessment of your premise and compile his detailed report.  For larger companies please call to discuss your requirements and we may arrange a visit to work out the most cost effective option for you.
